Content Management

DTI understands the need for all websites to have areas that are easily updated. That's why we created a component that can be easily dropped into any application! We call it our "Edit Panel.
Edit Panel
Edit Panel is an all in one solution to managing content on a website. It is a component developed here at DTI to give website administrators more control over the content of their website. In fact, it's actually used to manage the content on this very website. Once logged into the admin portion of the website (simple login page) a new header will appear at the top of the page with a page list link on the left and on the right is a checkbox for toggling site editing and a logout button. The Page List link opens up another panel that seems fairly daunting at first, but is actually fairly simple. It contains two columns - menu items and the page list. The page list contains a list of all the pages in the website. Below the page list is a text box to add a new page. When you click on any existing page you get two links at the bottom of the panel. One link to edit the page and the other to delete the page. Menu Items is where things get a little bit more tricky.
Menu headers can be added via the text box at the bottom and pages within that header are added by dragging a page from the page list column and adding it to the appropriate menu item. The website menu has a template design so that any page added to a menu item will show up in the menu of the actual site. The whole idea is that a page is created in the page list, then edited to look like it should, then dragged over to the menu item where it will show up on the site. Once a new page is added, it's a blank slate simply displaying the page's title. Around this small bit of content is a dotted line signifying that this content is indeed editable. Clicking on this editable area brings up a fully functional HTML editor. The content of the page can then be changed to look the way it should.
There are two edit modes - a Word-like one, and a straight HTML mode for the more advanced users. Once editing is complete, a click of the save button commits it to the website, where it can be changed at a later date if necessary by repeating the same steps. Built into the editor is a section for adding images. All the images on this page were added with this very tool. After uploading some images, the image list page displays them all. Clicking "add image" inserts the image in the normal way where it can be re-sized. But the much cooler "add Zoomnail" adds a thumbnail of the image and once the user clicks the image is opens it up to its full size. All the images on this page are Zoomnails. That is all there is to it. With DTI's Edit Panel component, admins are just clicks away from adding their own content. Need an FAQ page? With Edit Panel it's no problem. Simply add the page, type out the FAQs and save it. If new questions arise, simply edit the page again and add to the existing content.
